(If you’ve missed previous writing prompts, we BET YOU CAN’T do those, either.) You can’t get blood from a fire hose. Sylvia laughed at the macabre greeting card. She held an early clue in the complicated game of Eurekanicity. On the market for just over a month, it had picked up devotees everywhere. The stamps from around the world were just as meaningful to the outcome as the contents they delivered.

She studied the card carefully. While going to the website forum was not considered cheating, Sylvia didn’t want to rob herself of the pleasure that the “aha” moment brought when she least expected it. As she tried to make sense of the bloated corpse hooked to an intravenous line, her eye fell on the little piece of chocolate on the patient’s pillow. This made her think of her honeymoon. That made her think of the accident and – just like that – the “aha” moment hit.

Only, instead of a pleasing rush of endorphins, she received a rude jolt of adrenaline. Something was wrong. Somebody out there was being cruel. The lousy play on words and pictures twisted the knife of epiphany deep in her gut. She looked at the stamp. She tried to make out the postmark. And then, the full weight of the hoax wrapped its ugly fingers around her heart and squeezed.

Greg was hailing her from Venezuela with his new bimbo. So, whose charred body did she lay to rest?

I felt as if every little, lousy thing was wrong. Even if it was early, the weight of the problem wrapped around my neck and became more complicated when it bloated. The color turned to grey everywhere. Because it wasn’t fun losing something I’ve always known for most of my life, life turned less meaningful.

  3. KathleenK says:

Everywhere I look I see a lousy meaningful little reminder of how complicated this world is. I know it is too early in the morning to be letting the weight of the world rest on my shoulders …” Isabella says through the receiver as she lifts her cup of Joe to her lips. She draws a mouthful of ebony liquid into her mouth, holds it there a moment before swallowing the bitter truth of the day.

“But I would be wrong to allow myself to be wrapped in a bloated sense of self-importance. The other families deserve to see if closure is available. It is, after all, within arms reach. Waiting, patiently, will not change anything for this family, but …” she sighs so deeply that the man on the other end of the line aches for her, “if it all works out … it will make a difference in the lives of others.”

“Well then, here’s to a spring thaw,” his soft words were as soothing as when he stroked her hair last week.

“Yes,” the word got caught in her craw as stream of tears leaked from her eyes, “to a spring thaw.”

  4. Everywhere, those lousy little wrongdoing fat cells ruin meaningful early morning weight loss.
It’s a complicated process, but I wonder if the answer is wrapped inside this bloated cinnamon roll.

  5. Nitesh Khargonkar says:

The sun rises Everywhere and the sky looks nice and clear,
The people when look for life;end up collecting Wrong pieces in fear.
The world is moving silent but making you a Little noisy,
The pieces which we collect;all look poor and a bit too Lousy.
The meaningful Rain which was supposed to blossom the flower,
The Rain which came so early but turned out to be a Acid Rain Shower.
The era then ended and the Complicated season had begun,
The Weight of expectations knew ; they were in for some fun.
The Wrap around of love does not last,as said by famous and quoted.
The Gift may look nice and pretty, but in real its just Bloated.

  6. Life is complicated. Early in your childhood you are burdened with the weight of achieving something. A lousy way to live a meaningful life under the wrap of the little joys that you are to encounter later. Everywhere around you there are people who are living this Wrong & Bloated life. The Question is, Will You Too?
