  1. Anklebuster says:

Lissome trees bowed in deference to the Wizard’s bungalow as the bearded old geezer rode inside.

“Now, you show me respect, lummoxen! I warned you about sneaking furtive glances at my daughter!” The wizard mocked the erstwhile noblemen mercilessly. He dismounted from the wild boar and tossed it into the roaring fireplace.

He’d long ago become inured to the attention foisted upon his beautiful Athenia. In fact, the half-elf spawn of a wench had spent the last half century projecting her enchanting glamour in the form of a halcyon brook just beyond the front door.

During the day, she babbled happily in some ancient, riparian dialect. At twilight, she returned to her corporeal form, free to bewitch and torment would-be suitors. Love’s first kiss was a cruel joke from fairy tales; Athenia was doomed to act out her mother’s treachery on these unsuspecting men.

As soon as the promise of courtship was in the offing, the poor mortals were given a Pyrrhic dowry: immortality along the banks of their beloved.

  2. meg says:

    When I was happy

    I was happy
    I was
    I
On a day no so long ago
In a glamour of would be elves
Was lissome and offered by phyrrhic words
To the riparian landscape that was my misspent
    Happy happy time that
I really knew was a pretense.
    Erstwhile happiness only grows inured
    And I was
    Not
    Happy
There was no halcyon time no white fenced
    Bungalows with pansy dreams,

Reality has a way of growing up and
    Devouring real and imagined dreams
    In the end
    I wish
    I
    Wish
    To be
    Happy.
