Writing Prompt – Creative Copy Challenge # 567

This is a writing prompt. Bet you can’t do it! Take the 10 random words below and crush writer’s block by creating a cohesive, creative short story! And remember: after (if) you finish entering your submission into the comment field, highlight your words and click the bold button to make them stand out and help you determine if you forgot any words. (If you’ve missed previous writing prompts, we BET YOU CAN’T do those, either.) NOTE: Our bolding plugin is gone, so you’ll have to put before and after each of your challenge words if you want them to stand out, but NOT REQUIRED THOUGH! Or, as cleverly done by a CCC-er you can CAPITALIZE the challenge words in your piece.

I am lovesick. I am a secret admirer. I am going to ask for his courtship. He left me a box of chocolate. I gave him forget-me-nots. He is a heartthrob.

Why? I must ask the world, WHY? I was sure it would last. He broke my heart. It was just an infatuation. I thought I loved him. I thought there was a genuine tenderness in his voice! But no. I was wrong. Why? How could he do this? He went behind my back, not once but twice! It had not even been 20 days! Why, universe, why? What did I ever do to you? Now I guess I will give up all my dreams. They will hurt me even more. Why did I have to learn the hard way?

I did this one, but the stupid thing didn’t enter it, or count it as a comment. UUUGGGGHHH… annoying internet connection!

    ** The 500: Down Time **

Hank Barkley and Maria Delaney shared a moment of tenderness in the food court. So what If two dozen CEOs were standing around? This wasn’t high school. Hank and Maria were not a couple of lovesick puppies slobbering around forget-me-nots and a box of chocolate. This was C.H.A.R.M. School and neither students nor faculty were required to maintain secret liaisons.

Indeed, several of the students had struck up casual relationships during the course of the year. Akheem Lawson, steel magnate and the class heartthrob, took a different woman to his dorm every night.

Bettylou Dobbins, real estate developer, was no admirer of those who chose to openly flaunt infatuation. She had put Akheem in his place, right from the beginning. She’d let him know that the Good Ship Lollipop had sailed past her and could keep on going. Bettylou was here for one thing only–domination.
