Writing Prompt – Creative Copy Challenge #603

This is a writing prompt. Bet you can’t do it! Take the 10 random words below and crush writer’s block by creating a cohesive, creative short story! And remember: after (if) you finish entering your submission into the comment field, highlight your words and click the bold button to make them stand out and help you determine if you forgot any words. (If you’ve missed previous writing prompts, we BET YOU CAN’T do those, either.) NOTE: Our bolding plugin is gone, so you’ll have to put before and after each of your challenge words if you want them to stand out, but NOT REQUIRED THOUGH! Or, as cleverly done by a CCC-er you can CAPITALIZE the challenge words in your piece.

Well, I got an F on my irony assignment. My pertinacious desire to bluff my way through collegial assignments led to an unceremonious intervention: I was expelled with extreme prejudice. This meant the my future reentry onto campus would be treated as unauthorized access and I would be subject to arrest for trespassing.

I had to acknowledge that there was no solution for this stigma on my already rickety social status. I left town and joined the circus as a fortune-teller.

  2. Jack and Jill… unemployed.
Jack and Jill… at a COLLEGIAL disadvantage in need of steady employment. Willing to take any ASSIGNMENTS that came their way, yet their REENTRY into the workforce met with resistance. Their ACKNOWLEDGEMENT of that fact should have made the decision an easy one. Fetch a pail of water… easy peasy, a simple job, a simple SOLUTION to their RICKETY financial predicament. Their last UNAUTHORIZED expedition up the hill had been a SOCIAL disaster. Broken crown, broken trust and their parent’s last financial INTERVENTION had run dry. Something seemed shady as the last water gatherer, Mr. Rumple, offered them the official position. How hard could it be? And agreed to the terms. Taking the pail and with PERTINACIOUS strides, they went up the hill, to the fading laughter of Mr. Rumple.
